Photograph Expert ToRs

Position: Photographer to Provide support for the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey for Children programme (MICS Albania 2026).

Duration of the consultancy: 3 months

Project description:

Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey in Albania aims to generate high-quality, internationally comparable data on key indicators related to health, education, child protection, and social inclusion—many of which are directly linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and EU benchmarks.

The survey will be led by INSTAT, Albania’s national statistical authority, whose technical excellence was recently demonstrated through the successful implementation of the 2023 Population and Housing Census. INSTAT’s leadership ensures that the MICS will be conducted with the highest standards of data quality, transparency, and inclusiveness.

Roles and responsibilities:

In close cooperation with INSTAT and Observatory, the expert/photographer will:

  • Attend and cover all MICS related events and activities.
  • Producing high-quality, edited photographs suitable for print, digital, and social media use.
  • Ensuring photos are culturally sensitive, inclusive, and respect the dignity of subjects.
  • Delivering images in agreed formats (JPEG, RAW, etc.) within specified timelines.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to organizational branding and communication guidelines.

The expert will liaise with INSTAT and UNICEF communication teams, as agreed among UNICEF and INSTAT.

 

Important information:

  • All communication of the expert with INSTAT will be done through/copying UNICEF and Observatory.
  • Expert is asked to submit the copies of photos INSTAT and UNICEF for review and will consolidate the feedback received.

Qualifications:

The candidate should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Proven experience in professional photography (portfolio required).
  • Strong technical skills in digital photography and editing software (e.g., Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop).
  • Experience in development, humanitarian, or corporate photography preferred.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to diverse environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Deliverables:

The expert will deliver the following outputs:

  • A minimum of 30 edited photographs per assignment/event.
  • A curated photo library organized by theme/event.
  • Metadata (date, location, subject) for all images.

Timeline:

The expert is expected to complete the work during the period January – April 2026

Payment schedule:

The payment modality (daily fee or lump sum), invoice requirements and applicable taxes will be specified in the contract. Payment will be made upon completion of the assignment and submission of all required deliverables, including signed timesheets.
